Aurora post-surgery update
Subject: Aurora update - yeah this week's been
fun!
On to update #2 - Aurora. I have to say, if I had a
dollar for every, "You've got to be kidding!" I
heard this week - I'd be the heck out of this small
house! No, we weren't kidding - the poor kid
really did have an emergency appendectomy.
Aurora's surgery was Tuesday at 5pm, and she
was home by 3:30 on Wednesday. You just have
to love modern medicine! She has three small
incisions - one on each side of her belly, and one
in her belly button. Thankfully, she's only
supposed to stay quiet for 2-3 weeks. No giant
incision speeds up recovery considerably.
Sadly though, this did make us cancel Aurora's
trip to Washington DC to stay with a friend of
mine. She was supposed to fly out Saturday
morning, spend a week going to Air Force band
concerts, touring the Smithsonian and basically
being a tourist extraordinaire. That's not quite
happening now. After breaking her foot last Fall,
this latest stint has left her feeling a little "picked
on" by the universe.
However, the "agony" certainly hasn't stopped her
from playing the part of the "Princess". If she
orders me to do one more thing...I may just use
her sutures to hang her from the ceiling ...(only
for an hour or so...really...)
The attached pictures were taken in the hospital.
She was very proud to show off her IV. The
balloon bouquets were from us (Tiger) and her
glorious god-daddies (Scooby). She was thrilled!
Thank you to all of you who wrote and called. We
appreciate your support. I'm telling you - I'm
seriously considering putting Ambrosia in a
padded room in a bubble wrap suit - to try and
avoid any more of these emails!
